I'm looking for a LOTR story and I think it might have been A/L, but it could be gen. The fellowship has stopped for the night and Gandalf has them build a roaring fire. I would absolutely love to read a LotR/GoT crossover where Boromir commisserates with Stark re:having to do politics and where Faramir gives good pointers about dealing with politics/surviving at court...

I had this thought while watching the third LOTR films. Faramir asked Denethor if he had wished that he [Faramir] had gone instead of Boromir, and I though what would have happened? looking for some fics in which Faramir went on the fellowship instead of Boromir.
